Why Has The Doctor Ordered Oxygen?

Oxygen is prescribed to increase the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream,which decreases the amount of work it takes to breath, relieving the work load on your heart. Oxygen will make you feel better. (It may decrease your shortness of breath and fatigue. It may increase your ability to exercise AND decrease confusion and memory loss).

 

Do I Have To Pay For Oxygen Therapy?

No. If you met the medical criteria and your oxygen was prescribed by a health care professional, you will be covered under the ADP Funding.

Who Is Eligible For Home Oxygen Therapy?

1. You must be an Ontario resident for more than 6 months.
2. You must be eligible for and have a valid Ontario Health Number (OHIP).
3. Your oxygen level is equal to or below 88%. Additional testing may be required depending on funding category (rest, exertion and/or sleep).
4. You must be capable of handling oxygen at home.

If you have private insurance, they may cover some of your costs. Check with them to see if they will pay for additional charges not covered by the Home Oxygen Program (HOP)

Oxygen is not a cure but oxygen therapy increases the amount of oxygen you breathe into your lungs and helps you to function properly and have a better quality of life overall and avoids many health risks.

Is Oxygen Addictive?

Oxygen is a drug but not addictive. But it is highly recommended to use your oxygen dosage as prescribed by your healthcare professional.

Oxygen is not dangerous as long as it’s used properly as explained by your healthcare professional.

Yes, you need prescription for Home Oxygen from you healthcare professional.

Can I Travel With Home Oxygen Equipment?

Yes you can travel with you home oxygen equipment. MagGas Medical will provide you with a variety of portable equipment that will meet your needs.

Do I Have To Use Oxygen Forever?

A healthcare professional from MagGas Medical will reassess your oxygen and blood levels on a regular basis to determine if you still need home oxygen.
